SCBWI Conference - Malorie Blackman Was Here
by Addy Farmer
Yes, Malorie Blackman, children's Laureate, writing superstar and all round amazing person was here, in my car.
That has to be the shortest, and best, post we've ever had on the slushpile! It must have taken hours of thought and preparation. Like a picture book - the fewer the words the more each word choice counts. Well done you :)
That's it, Jackie. My car is now buzzing with Malorie writerliness - you just can't see it. I'm thinking of using it as an office. Malorie and Dougal - how exciting!
Fab post: they do say that it's what you leave out that's important! But I also love that the comments now outnumber the blogpost wordage so spectacularly. All hail Malorie's seat... hmm, that hasn't come out quite right...
Hehe. Never valet that seat!
ReplyDeleteI placed my bottom on the seat in order to absorb any residual writing superness. Fingers crossed. Thanks for reading, Emma. It's a bit of an ask.
DeleteAre you allowed to use the word bottom on Notes from the Slushpile?
DeleteI believe not.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Maureen. I like you the best.
DeleteMaybe this is the answer to the time crunch blogging problem.
DeleteBlogging without the
Deletebother of preparation?
Let's all use Haiku!
Commendably short and interesting.
ReplyDeleteare you talking about me, Bookwitch?
DeleteAnd you're obviously too modest to mention that she took a quick snap of your seat.
ReplyDeleteWell, now you mention it, Linda ...
DeleteAre you ever going to be able to let anybody else sit in this seat?
ReplyDeleteNo
DeleteYou make me laugh, Addy Farmer:)))))
ReplyDeleteSuch larks!
Tragic loss of a photo opportunity though, Jan. I did think about it but didn't want to risk Malorie's anti-kidnapping utility belt thing.
DeleteIs that it? I was expecting a great long post with lots of quotes and pictures! (I have a pic of Malorie with Dougal Trump if you'd like it)

ReplyDeleteI think this is the way forward for blogging, a mixture of blog and tweet - twogging.
DeleteThanks for reading!
